Fields of Activity

Areas of activity of the Šiauliai Regional State Archive:

• To collect, preserve, study and popularise: documents of local government, other state institutions and enterprises operating in the territories of the present-day Šiauliai and Panevėžys districts until 1990, documents of the former secret (first) departments of state institutions, enterprises and organisations operating in the Lithuanian SSR, which form a special part of the National Document Fund, documents of state and municipal institutions, institutions and enterprises operating since 1990, as well as documents handed over to the Lithuanian SSR by non-state organisations, private legal entities and individuals and documents received from other countries, or copies thereof.
• Ensuring public access to the documents stored, in accordance with the law.
• Within the scope of its competences, supervise the implementation of the requirements for the management and use of documents and archives laid down in legal acts, provide methodological assistance to state institutions, bodies and enterprises that transfer documents to the Šiauliai Regional State Archive for storage.
